There are jobs that have been around for years, and they have no plans of going away anytime soon. There are also jobs that are just being created in today’s market, and these will provide many benefits to the public. Jobs that consumers need or those that help the public in some way or another are the ones that are here to stick.
Police Officer
This is one career that is always going to be needed. It does not matter what kind of town or city it is, police officers are needed. They provide small services for communities and they also keep criminals apprehended. The men and women that do this job are needed on a daily basis whether people like it or not. They are just one of the forces that keeps chaos from happening. Most people considering law enforcement get a degree in criminal justice. They will typically make an average salary of $51,410, but can make over $90,000.
Paralegal
This job has existed as long as lawyers have existed and in the next several years it is expected to rise 28 percent. Paralegals are responsible for helping lawyers prepare legal documents and help for trials. An associate’s degree is needed for this field with possibly a major in paralegal studies. For those that already received a degree in another field but are changing occupations, they can become certified for this job. The average income is around $46,120.
Accountant
Accountants are very useful for businesses. They not only keep up with taxes, but they also do bookkeeping and other strategic planning for companies. As long as businesses increase, so will accountants. Within the next decade these types of positions should rise by 22 percent. Many of these people will have bachelor degrees in Accounting. Those who really want to make money should become a CPA or certified public accountant. Average earnings are $59,430, but it is possible to make over $100,000.
Health Care Administrator
These people are essential for doctor’s offices and hospitals ability to run smoothly. They take care of billing, speak with insurance companies, and protect patient records. It is expected this field will have a growth of 16 percent in the next 5 to 10 years. A bachelor’s degree in health care administration is typically needed, but for larger facilities a master’s degree may be necessary. The average earnings are $80,240.
Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy technicians are already in high demand with more prescriptions being written every single day. Now that the health system may be changing more people are likely to become insured. This will cause a rise in pharmacy usage meaning more technicians will need to be hired. The Department of Labor expects this field to have a 25 percent growth between now and 2018. Pharmacy technicians make between $13 and $19 an hour. To get started in this field they most likely needed an Associate’s degree. There are also certificate programs available that can help people get a quick start in this occupation.
